Short term profit indeed mislead most of us in any goal of life, not only in leaderhip but also in investing. Many investors become traders in the name of short term & spectacular profit. They forgot that it could not last consistently in the future.
Great sir, I'm looking forward to reading your blog. :)

Great blog mas EP. You are trying not only to share your knowledge about investment but also to express your feelings and dreams with the support of theory and knowledge. Very Good. Let see within one year or two from now, I believe a lot of visitors will be recorded in this blog.

About the Harvard students that did not agree with the Iverson idea to develop mini mills, they are the same with our officials in State Owned Company (BUMN) Ministry and most of State Owned Companies top managements. They do not care about the future of the company. What they care about is only short term profit ...... profit ........and profit. That's all. When I attended a training organized by Corporate Leadership Development Institute 2 weeks ago, I expressed my opinions in a presentation program to the official of State Owned Company Ministry, Mr.Palgunadi (President Commisioner of Adaro), Mr.Sutrisno (former President Director of Krakatau Steel), and Mr.Sumardi (former President Director of Pelindo IV) and they seemed to understand my concern.

Short term profit could be a trap for all of us since all of our efforts are concentrated in creating profits regardless of how this profits are collected and none of us are really thinking and dreaming about the future considering the recent business conditions and competition that are becoming tighter and tighter. More important is the long lasting and sustainable profit.

What we learn from M Natsir and Iverson is that they always think about the future. To build the future, first they need to build a strong foundation like culture, good faith and leadership. First of all, of course, they need to walk the talk the culture, faith and leadership. And they do not need acknowledgment from others. Keep walking the talk, keep doing the best for the job, for others, for the environment, for the country and off course for the family. They do not need compliment and salutation for what they have done.

Sorry for the very long and unfocused comment.

Very nice comment Sir. You shall write a blog on your own.
Let me see..hmm.. it could be about Leadership. I suppose there still a few Indonesia blog on leadership. Wanna be a pioneer? :)
I wrote about leadership of Natsir & Iverson, coz we really need those kind of men, people like Taiichi Ohno, who built the giant Toyota without being an 'corporate star' such as Jack Welch & Iacocca.
